Detailed Reports

A total of 12 air monitors are located at the perimeter of the Garfield Avenue Site. Six are fixed monitors, meaning they will not be moved throughout the duration of the cleanup. Four monitors, meanwhile, are portable, meaning they are moved as the focus of work at the site shifts from location to location. Fixed monitors measure dust, 24 hours, seven days a week. Portable monitors measure dust during work hours. Additionally, during work hours, both fixed and portable monitors collect airborne chrome samples. Finally, two monitors collect airborne chrome samples only, 24 hours, seven days a week. On weekends, 24-hour chrome monitors collect samples for 72 hours, from 6 a.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. The 72-hour average is plotted for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A similar methodology is used on holidays or when the site is closed because of inclement weather.
